The majority of you are asking unrealistic prices on your rentals! I for one would just BUY a house if I wanted to pay over 1k a month rent. Most Volusia County citizens cannot afford, nor do they want to pay, 1000 a month for a crapbox in Holly Hill or a ramshackled fire hazard in Ormond by the sea! My advice; STOP being so damn greedy! I hear alot of owners saying "I can't afford to lower the rental price" but then will let the house sit vacant for 6 months! Ridiculous!

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Homes abandoned as Florida's foreclosure rate skyrockets are causing concerns for neighbors and health and safety officials. The report featured a house in Melbourne that sits abandoned like thousands of other foreclosures across the state. Neighbors like Mike Whitehurst are worried about the home's unsecured pool. Whitehurst said the murky water breeds mosquitoes and mosquito-borne illness. "I'm sure it's going on in other communities with homes that have been abandoned as well," Whitehurst said. Local 6 showed video of several abandoned and unsecured pools presenting a risk in Central Florida -- all the result of foreclosures. "If the fence is not properly secured, we do that and send the owners the bill," Orange County code enforcement official Bob Spivey said. "We try to make sure a child or anyone else cannot wander in there and fall in. So, the county sends a violation notice and people are subjected to possible fines and liens." Code enforcement officials in Orange County said securing pools has become a No. 1 priority. And code enforcement officials in Brevard County said they've cited the bank and the homeowner for not maintaining and securing the Melbourne pool. The bank and the homeowner are subject to fines of up to $250 a day. Local 6 reported that residents should call code enforcement and reach out to the bank that has foreclosed on the property if an abandoned home is considered a hazard in a neighborhood.
