"Nicks Store", as painted by Larry Johnson shows his appreciation of the past and a determination to preserve its legacies. This was a commissioned piece and includes a certificate of authenticity with the background behind the piece and is number 14 of 200 of which he personally only signed 15 so this is one with his authentic autograph.
Larry's love of the past stems from his family and his life on a small farm in Alamance County North Carolina. After his graduation from T.C.A. in Commercial Art, Advertising and Design, Larry moved to Newport News, Virginia as a technical illustrator for Tenneco, Inc. After 13 years away from family and friends, Larry decided to return home and pursue his career in fine arts. Larry's work can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States, England, Canada and Australia. Aside from numerous one-man shows, the U.S. Air Force has commissioned work by Larry, with several pieces hanging in the Federal Maritime Administration Building in Washington, DC.
The original of "Nicks Store" has been donated by Larry to the City of Graham and is on loan to the Arts Center. Two hundred prints were reproduced from the original on 80 acid free Mohawk Super Fine Stock, with all proceeds over and above printing costs to go to the Alamance County Arts Council. The printing plates used have been cut and will be on display at the Arts Center in Graham, N.C., along with certification papers from Greensboro Printing Company stating that all press waste sheets were destroyed. There will be 200 prints signed and numbered, 5 prints as artist proofs, and the remaining 15 proofs have been destroyed. With quiet joy and a sense of pride in a heritage that speaks to the progress of today, Larry Johnson and the Alamance County Arts Council offer you "Nicks Store".
